Charlene Maxey-Harris is Professor and Associate Dean for Collections and Resource Management at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Libraries. Formerly as the Diversity Librarian, she has developed and managed diversity initiatives over the last 15 years at the University of Nebraska improving the work climate to be more welcoming and inclusive to all individuals, but especially to underrepresented groups, and increasing the diversity of our faculty. Ms. Maxey-Harris chairs the Libraries Diversity & Inclusion Committee and was the inaugural chair of the Nebraska Library Association Diversity Committee. Her research focuses on diversity and multicultural issues in academic libraries and library instruction for first generation college students. In 2017 and 2010, Maxey-Harris compiled a study of diversity plans and programs in academic libraries published by the Association of Research Libraries.  
 
She is the Co-PI of the “Recovering Lost Stories: Digitizing the History of the Clyde Malone Community Center, the heartbeat of an “invisible” Black community in Lincoln, Nebraska.” 2025-2027 CLIR Mellon Grant.
