Charlie Foster has been with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln since August 2001. During that time, she has worked to build a career that centers on helping students, faculty, and staff. She initially came to campus to be a part of the Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) office. After 15 years with that great team, she accepted a role within the Jackie Gaughan Multicultural Center. In this role, Charlie was able to expand upon her work with first- generation, low-income, and underrepresented students. She would also find herself working with large scale programs for UNL, such as Hate Will Never Win and Husker Dialogues. After working in the Gaughan for 8 years, she is currently working in the Employee Assistance Program where she helps faculty, staff, and graduate student employees. She also continues to work with undergraduate students by advising the Afrikan People’s Union, Sister Circle and Out of the Darkness Suicide Prevention Walk. She has received the following honors for her work: The Leadership Lincoln Melvin W. Jones Mentoring Award (2015) and the Chancellor’s Fulfilling the Dream Award (2019).
