Hassan Ramzah was appointed Assistant Vice-Chancellor and Chief of Police for the UNL Police Department in July 2020. Prior to this appointment, he served as Interim Police Chief and Assistant Chief of Police. He previously spent 26 years with the Wichita Police Department in various roles, holding positions including Police Officer, Detective, Patrol Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, and Deputy Police Chief.
Before his law enforcement career, Chief Ramzah served six years on active duty in the United States Army. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Southwestern College, a Master of Business Administration from Wichita State University, and a Ph.D. in Educational Studies with a focus on Educational Leadership and Higher Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
He is a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s National Academy (246th Session), the Southern Police Institute’s Chief Executive Leadership Course, the IACP and MacArthur Foundation Institute on Juvenile Justice at Yale University, and the IACLEA Executive Development Institute.
