I earned a B.S. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln in 1988 and have held my current position at UNL since 2000.
Following a Spinal Cord Injury in 1979 at the age of 14, I became an advocate for people with disabilities. For more than 47 years, I have been speaking and educating people regarding disability awareness, accommodating people with disabilities in the workplace, promoting equal educational opportunities, and promoting self-advocacy for people with disabilities of every age.
I am currently serving on the Staff Senate at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the Mayor’s Multicultural Affairs Committee. Previously, I was on the Board of Directors of Disability Rights Nebraska for 10 years, serving as the board’s chairperson for the final four years.
I have served as a board member and/or advisor on many local and state boards and committees representing people with disabilities. My goal and passion is working towards a world where every person with a disability has a voice and the freedom and ability to choose how they live. I am dedicated to the disability rights movement and supporting and protecting the Americans with Disabilities Act.
I live in Lincoln with my husband, Randy, and our three rescue cats.
