As Director of Academic Technologies at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Kate McCown leads strategic planning, implementation, and optimization of enterprise academic IT solutions, managing key platforms such as Canvas, Zoom, and YuJa Academic Video. She leads a team of 19 IT professionals responsible for classroom technology, learning space design, the DLC Exam Commons, course evaluations and faculty technology support. She works closely with faculty, administrators, and IT teams to develop and implement enterprise solutions that improve operational efficiency, enhance teaching and learning, and align with institutional goals.
Kate has worked in higher education since 2007 at a variety of institutions ranging in size from one of the largest state universities in the country – Arizona State University – to a small liberal arts university – Midland University. Over the course of her career, she has worked in student housing, admissions and recruitment, academic advising, first year success and academic affairs. Regardless of the institution or role, Kate enjoys supporting student, staff and faculty success. Kate is currently on a quest to visit all 50 state capitol buildings (41 down) and to read 101 books this year!
