T.J. McDowell, Jr. serves as assistant vice chancellor and Dean of Students at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, bringing a deep commitment to student success and community leadership. He returned to UNL in 2025 after serving as Chief of Staff for the Mayor of Lincoln, further strengthening his connection to the campus and broader community.

Previously, T.J. held leadership roles as assistant vice chancellor for Student Life and Leadership at UNL and vice president for Student Life at Nebraska Wesleyan University. He began his career in the nonprofit sector, serving as executive director of the Lighthouse and the Malone Community Center, where he focused on youth development and community engagement.

A Lincoln native and graduate of Lincoln High School, T.J. was a first-generation college student and remains passionate about supporting students with similar experiences. He is currently pursuing a doctorate in educational administration and is a proud member of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc.
