
Zac Franzen

Zac Franzen is the Alumni Relations and Events Coordinator at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s College of Journalism and Mass Communications and the Nebraska Alumni Association. Since joining the college in January 2023, he has led efforts to foster meaningful engagement between alumni and the university, developing and evaluating programs that strengthen these vital connections. Zac is deeply committed to equity and inclusion, having served for two years on the Chancellor’s Commission for the Status of Gender and Sexual Identities. In this role, he has worked to enhance the university experience for LGBTQA+ students, faculty, and staff. He also chairs the programming subcommittee on the CCSGSI and leads the UNL Star City Pride planning committee.
In addition, he currently serves as co-chair of the university’s All Staff Conference committee, where he plays a key role in advancing professional development and cultivating a collaborative and supportive environment for staff across campus. Beyond the university, Zac extends his passion for mentorship and service into the broader community. He is the assistant speech coach at Elkhorn South High School and an active volunteer with the American Red Cross Disaster Response Team.
